Apabad

Apabad is a Nepali drama film that was released in the theatres of Nepal on 18 May 2012, and the picture was also released abroad in the month of June of the same year. The film was directed by Subash Koirala, and it was his first film as a director, with the story, the screenplay and the dialogue of the picture also written by him together with Shivashish Jaishy. The film was produced by Sushan Prajapati, Suraj Koirala and Upendra Lamichhane under the production company Ideas and Images Pvt. Ltd., with Bikash Duwal serving as the executive producer.

The cast of the film included Raj Ballav Koirala, Nisha Adhikari, Rabi Giri and Bijaya Giri in the main roles. The cinematography was handled by Sushan Prajapati, the editing was done by Raju Dhungana, and the music of the film was composed by Ujjwal Meghi Gurung. The running time of the film is about one hour and fifty minutes.

The story of the film follows Suyog, played by Raj Ballav Koirala, who faces the failures of his life even before the start of his career, and who decides to put an end to all his miseries. However, death betrays him, and he is carried by the waves of the water to a lonely and isolated island, where he faces a hard time for his own survival. On the other hand, Sunanda, played by Nisha Adhikari, is a friend in need of Suyog, and after the supposed demise of her friend, her sympathy turns into love as she reads the personal diary of the boy. In the end, Suyog wins over the loneliness and finds a way out of the abandoned land.

The film was presented as a measure of the patience and the persistence of a person to achieve the goal of his life, and the popular song Ye Dautari of the film was loved by the audience of the country. Apabad remains an important work of the beginning of the career of the director Subash Koirala.
