Mero Best Friend

Mero Best Friend is a Nepali romantic comedy film directed by Prasanna Poudel and produced by Prajita Bajracharya under the banner of Ashabadi Films. The movie, also known as MBF, was released in theaters on May 23, 2014, and is based on the grounds of friendship and violence. It stars Resh Maratha and Priyanka Karki as two best friends at the center of the story, with Pooja Sharma, Diwas Upreti, Manoj K.C. and Sunil Thapa in supporting roles, and Bimlesh Adhikari and Keki Adhikari in special appearances.

The film is significant as the debut of Priyanka Karki in Nepali cinema. She was the third choice for the female lead, as Jharana Bajracharya was originally cast but flew to the UK, and Sikkim's model Shreya Sharma had to drop out due to illness before Priyanka signed on. Popular model and former Miss Teen Priyanka Karki said she was glad her first movie would be a Nepali one. The film also marked the second movie venture for director Prasanna Poudel, who had previously directed the film Swor, the Melody of Dreams.

The story and screenplay of Mero Best Friend were written by Achyut Adhikari. The music was composed by Sugam Pokhrel, Rajan Raj Shivakoti, Ashusen Lama and Pramod Kharel, with lyrics written by Bhupendra Khadka, Harihar Acharya and Ashusen Lama. The action sequences were choreographed by Himal KC, the editing was done by Surendra Poudel and Tekendra Shah, and the cinematography was handled by the late Bidur Pandey.

The film's trailer, featuring the star cast of Priyanka Karki, Keki Adhikari and Pooja Sharma, helped generate attention for the release. The combination of friendship, romance and action was designed to appeal to young audiences who enjoyed the growing number of youth-oriented films in Nepali cinema of the 2010s.

Mero Best Friend remains an important milestone in the career of Priyanka Karki, who went on to become one of the busiest actresses in the Nepali film industry, and it stands as an example of the romantic comedy genre of the mid-2010s.
