Ek Bhagavad Ra Ek Gita is a 2023 Nepali social drama film directed by Jharana Thapa, who also wrote the story of the picture. The film was produced under the banner of Suhana Entertainment and was released in the cinemas of Nepal on 15 September 2023, on 29 Bhadra of the year 2080. The film is an honest and courageous picture about the lives of the transgender people of the Nepali society, and it takes its name and its spirit from the ancient book of the Bhagavad Gita and from the law of karma of the Hindu tradition. The movie is set in the old and holy city of Janakpur of the Mithila region, and it tells a story that is at the same time social and spiritual.

The central character of the film is Kamala Mai, played by the popular actor Bipin Karki, a respected elder woman of the transgender community who leads and takes care of a small group of transgender people of the city. The people of Janakpur believe that when a transgender person gives blessings in a house, the family is rewarded with good fortune and abundance, and therefore the families invite Kamala Mai to visit their homes and ask for her blessing. But the same society that seeks the blessing refuses to treat the people who give the blessing with dignity and respect, and this contradiction becomes the heart of the whole film.

The story is seen through the eyes of two children, the boy Bhagavad and the girl Gita, played by Jvis Shrestha and the actress Suhana Thapa, and through their young eyes the film tells the lesson of the law of karma: every action carries its consequences, and life becomes a battlefield whenever the moral balance is broken. The supporting cast of the movie includes Kabir Khadka, Dhiraj Magar, Anurag Kunwar, Sanjog Rasaili, Rear Rai and the actors of the Thakur family from the region, and the film was appreciated in the festivals, where it received awards and nominations. The movie was shot with the beautiful visuals of the Mithila culture, and after the theatrical run the filmmakers put the film for free on the YouTube channel, where the message of the oneness of humanity remains alive for the audience.
