Appa is a 2019 Nepali social drama film written and directed by the filmmaker Anmol Gurung, and the film was produced by the Darjeeling heart of Mountain Stories Pvt Ltd: it is a rare, honest look at the border life of the Nepali-speaking communities of India and Nepal. The film, whose title means father in the Nepali language, was released in the cinema halls of Nepal on 28 June 2019, and in the same year it became the first Nepali film to be released in the multiplexes of India in the 25 cities of Assam and Meghalaya, the historic release of the film.
