Chakkar is a 2018 Nepali crime drama film written, directed, edited and partly photographed by the filmmaker Anuska Rauniyar, who is known for the films KTM Cocktail and her experiments with the independent cinema of Nepal. The movie was produced by Rabin Acharya and Sharmila Adhikari under the banners of National Media Production and the A Ktm Art House Production, and it was released in the cinema halls of Nepal on 20 July 2018. The picture runs for about 114 minutes and it was shot entirely in the urban setting of Kathmandu, a city of the chaos, which is rare for the Nepali films of that period that mostly preferred the hills and the villages.

The story of the film is a dark and critical picture of the urban working class society of the country. The protagonist of the film, Kishore, played by the actor Avinash Raj Upreti, is a seemingly uneducated and unemployed young man who is already in trouble in his love life: he suspects that his girlfriend is cheating on him. While he is mildly upset over his broken love, he meets a tragic stranger, a man who offers him money, and the offer leads the morally corrupt protagonist on a journey through the bedrooms and the streets of Kathmandu, where love is in the air but also the violence lies unconscious, bleeding on the floor. The web of failed relationships, infidelity and the sexuality of the society is told through a blunt narration, and the pressure of the urban life drives the characters of the film to the danger, as the crime in the city spreads with the darkness.

The cast of the film includes the actors Avon Raj Upreti in the leading role, Reecha Sharma as a police officer, Srijana Subba, Arpan Thapa as a physician, Bholaraj Sapkota as Madangi, and Smriti Mokharel in the important roles, with the crew of the film: the cinematographer Rabin Acharya and the background score of the film with the music of the city. The film had only a short run of about three days in the theaters of the country, but it traveled the world through the film festivals: at the Queens World Film Festival in New York, actor Raj Upreti won the best male actor award in the narrative feature category, and the film also got the nominations of the Kamana Film Awards for the best debut director and the best cinematography, earning a place of pride in the indie cinema movement of Nepal.
