Chiso Maanche is a 2022 Nepali social drama film written and directed by the famous filmmakers Dipendra K. Khanal, known for the movies Pashupati Prasad and Aama, and it was produced under the banner of the production house of the film. The movie stars Swastima Khadka, Arpan Thapa and the veteran actor Desh Bhakta Khanal, and it was released in the cinemas of Nepal on 13 May 2022. The picture is a road film, a journey of a small group over the border between the life and the death.

The story is of a woman who receives a phone call from abroad: her husband, who left the village to work in the Gulf to support the family, has died in a foreign land. Now his body has arrived at the airport of the capital, and the wife and the old father the family must bring the body home to his village for the final rites of the family. They take the help of a driver who carries passengers, and the journey of the deceased father of the country begins, through the forest, the valley, bus stops and its own pilgrimage. The body is brought in a wooden case, and the small group carries the weight, the love and a river of memories of the family through the whole of Nepal, across the rivers and the snow of the route.

The film shows the delicate drama of the transport of the dead body, the customs of the villages and the strength of the end between the family of the deceased. While the global advances, the driver who has agreed to take this burden for a very small money is slowly changed, from this unexpected journey, the son-in-law of value of the life of the mother. Yet the mother has to deal with the deep day; the girl of eternal sorrow of the loss, and the reversal of the course that the family does not have the only memory but also the income of the future of the family. The death of a breadwinner of a village family shows the fragile threads of the rural economy of Nepal. Chiso Maanche tells, through a simple language and a balance of humor and tears, the story of a country that loses its youth to the far lands of labor, and of a woman, who will not let the flame of her husband die in the alienation.
