Buy NowDimaag Kharaab is a 2023 Nepali social drama film directed by Nischal Basnet, one of the respected directors of the new generation of the Nepali cinema, with the screenplay written by Aakash Baral. The film was produced by Raunak Bikram Kandel under the banner of Cinema Art Pvt. Ltd. and Black Horse Pictures, with the cinematography by Sushan Prajapati and the editing by Nimesh Shrestha, while the music of the film was composed by Jayan J. Waiba and Babul Giri. The film was released in the cinemas of Nepal on 10 November 2023 and runs for about 140 minutes. It is the story of the fight of one common man against the whole corrupt system of his country, and with its emotional social story the movie collected about 10.67 crore rupees against the budget of about 4.15 crore rupees, becoming a big blockbuster of the year 2023.
The story follows the life of Indra Sharma, brought to the screen by the talented actor Khagendra Lamichhane. Indra is a simple, honest and humorous man who only wants a stable family life and dreams of going abroad for a better future for his family. But the barriers and the paperwork of the bureaucratic system destroy his plans, and the officers and the middlemen of the offices turn his new beginning into a dark trap. When the mayor of the city, played by the actor Arpan Thapa, and his people cheat the simple man out of his honest money, the man who could always smile slowly loses his patience and his belief in the system. The film follows the transformation of the naive man into a man who confronts the corrupt system with courage, and in the second half of the film the audience sees the angry face of the ordinary citizen against the dishonest powers.
Along with the hero, the film features a strong ensemble cast: Dayahang Rai in an important role, Swastima Khadka as the wife of Indra, Arpan Thapa as the corrupt mayor, Bijay Baral, Suman Karki, Puskar Gurung, Maotse Gurung and Rama Thapaliya as the mother of Indra. The promotional song of the film, Jhamke Jhama Jham, sung by the singers Namrata Kafle and Sumit Khadka, became popular a month before the release of the movie. After the theatrical run that filled the halls of Nepal, the movie was placed on the YouTube channel of the makers and is now free to watch, and the story of the struggle of the honest Indra Sharma continues to live in the heart of the audience of the common Nepal.
