Hattichhap is a 2024 Nepali social comedy drama film directed by Simosh Sunuwar and written by Pradeep Bhardwaj. The film was produced under the banner of Red Bird Production, with Pushkar Gurung, Amala Devi Rai and Jay Shrestha as the producers and Saroj Nepali as the executive producer. It was released in the cinemas of Nepal on 9 February 2024 and runs for about two hours and eight minutes. The movie brings together some of the most loved actors of the Nepali cinema, Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla and Upasana Singh Thakuri in the lead roles, and it mixes comedy, drama, romance and action with the political reality of the Nepali village.

The story is built around friendship and the politics of a small village. Ambare, played by Dayahang Rai, works hard to help his best friend Chal Bahadur, played by Bijay Baral, win the local election. But after the victory, Chal Bahadur moves to Kathmandu and never returns to help the village that elected him. When a big earthquake strikes the village and kills two poor and homeless friends of Ambare, the people look at him with anger, because his friend in the capital does nothing for the community. Hearing the harsh words of the village, Ambare leaves his love and his home behind and travels to Kathmandu to find the man who betrayed the trust of the people.

Besides the two stars, the picture also features Upasana Singh Thakuri as Laxmi, a local school teacher who loves Ambare, and a supporting cast that includes Benisha Hamal, Buddhi Tamang, Kamal Mani Nepal, Puskar Gurung, Prakash Ghimire, Kabita Ale, Wilson Bikram Rai, Binod Neupane and Anup Neupane. One of the most entertaining parts of the movie is the character of Bottle Raja, played by Saugat Malla, a drunkard from a royal family background, whose funny dialogues made the audience laugh in the cinema halls. The film shows how the society treats the honest man who is left alone to carry the problems of everyone, and how political betrayal hurts the common people. The movie was shot in the beautiful villages of Nepal, with the cinematography handled by Sushan Prajapati and the editing by Nimesh Shrestha. Hattichhap finished its theatrical run with a box office collection of about 1.1 crore rupees, and later the makers uploaded the full film on YouTube, where it can be watched for free.
