Buy NowGhar is a 2019 Nepali horror film written and directed by Arpan Thapa, produced by Sharmila Pandey and Santosh Adhikari under the banner of DS Digital in association with ASAP Entertainment. The film was released in theaters across Nepal on July 19, 2019, with a running time of 104 minutes. It stars Arpan Thapa, Surakshya Panta, Benisha Hamal, Asmita Khanal and Saroj Aryal in the leading roles, with Shristi Maharjan and Bikash Khanal in supporting parts.
The film tells the story of Shiva, played by Arpan Thapa, and Saru, played by Surakshya Panta, a couple whose lives are disturbed by mysterious events connected to their home. Benisha Hamal appears as Maya, adding to the tension that builds inside the house. The title Ghar, which means house in Nepali, sets the stage for a haunted-house style horror narrative in which the family home becomes the source of fear and supernatural activity.
The cinematography of Ghar was handled by Niraj Kadel, and the film was edited by Milan Shrestha. The production design was led by Shankar Pandey, while the visual effects were created by Shree Krishna Shrestha and Manoj Shrestha. The movie was distributed by DS Digital and FD Company, and the trailer was released in June 2019 under the title Ghar Nepali Horror Movie Official Trailer 2019.
The production team promoted the film heavily in the weeks before its release, with the official trailer generating interest among horror fans of Nepali cinema. The film was also later made available in full on YouTube through Budha Subba Digital, allowing international audiences to watch it online.
Ghar represents Arpan Thapa's foray into the horror genre as a director, following his work as a writer and actor in films like Maun. With a well-known cast, atmospheric cinematography and a focus on supernatural terror within a domestic setting, Ghar offered Nepali audiences a mainstream horror experience and contributed to the growth of the horror genre in Nepali cinema in 2019.
