Black

Black is a 2018 Nepali romantic drama film directed by Pradeep Shrestha, a well-known director of Nepali cinema. The movie was written by Maunata Shrestha, who was known for writing good scripts, and produced by Aashma Pande, with Chetan Kumar Pande serving as the executive producer. The film stars Aakash Shrestha and Aanchal Sharma in the leading roles.

Black was released in Nepali cinemas on August 17, 2018, corresponding to Bhadra 1 in the Nepali calendar. The supporting cast includes Sundar Shrestha, Aayush Rijal, Sushil Chhetri, Dhiren Shakya and Priya Rijal. The film was promoted as a romantic story about love that never ends, and the central love story of the film was its main attraction for audiences.

The songs of the film played a major role in its promotion. The song "Pal Pal Harpal", sung by Sugam Pokharel and featuring Aakash Shrestha and Aanchal Sharma, along with "Timro Lagi", became popular among audiences and helped build anticipation for the movie before its release.

The technical crew of the film included cinematographer Ramsharan Upreti, who shot the movie's visuals, and music director Mahesh Khadka, who composed the soundtrack. The action sequences were directed by Chandra Pant, while Ramji Lamichhane handled the choreography of the songs. The editing was done by Arjun G.C., and the colour grading was handled by Renish Phago, one of the most sought-after colourists in the industry. The film was distributed by Gobinda Shahi, Ujjwal Poudel and Manoj Rathi.

Aanchal Sharma had been rising in popularity since her debut in Nai Nabhannu La 4, and her pairing with Aakash Shrestha, who was also a popular actor of the time, was considered a strong box office combination. The romantic pairing of the two stars was the central focus of the film's marketing.

Black remains a representative example of the romantic dramas that dominated Nepali commercial cinema in the late 2010s, and it is available on YouTube for fans to watch.
