Rudrapriya

Rudrapriya is a 2017 Nepali love and social drama film directed by Sudeep Boby Bhupal Singh, who also wrote the story of the picture, while the screenplay was written by Rubi Sen. The film was produced by the banner of Sarswati Thapa Films in association with Aryan Films, and it was presented by the actress Rekha Thapa under her own home Rekha Films. The movie brought Rekha Thapa and Aaryan Sigdel back to the same screen after a long gap of seven years, and they were one of the most loved romantic couples of the Nepali cinema. The film was released in the cinema halls of Nepal on 19 October 2017, in the week of the Tihar festival, and from the beginning the trailer and the songs created a lot of excitement among the audience.

The story of Rudrapriya is a love saga that blends the love of two young hearts with the social drama of family honour. A boy and a girl from the same surroundings fall in love, but when the older generation of the family and the society object to their relationship, the young couple has to fight the heavy walls of tradition. The film follows how the young lover faces the sacrifices and the twists of destiny, and how true love finally proves itself stronger than the divisions created by the society. The director tells this story with simple sentiments and soulful music, and the romantic songs of the movie became very popular at the time, especially the song Timro Bahek Aru, which was released with the trailer.

Besides Rekha Thapa and Aaryan Sigdel in the lead roles, the picture features a strong supporting cast that includes Rajan Ishan, Som Bikram Singh, Bishwo Basnet, Ramesh Adhikari, Swagat Nepal, Ram Babu Regmi and Jiban Bhattarai. The film was released in a special way: on the first day it was shown in the cinema halls and at the same time on a television channel, so that the viewers living in the remote villages of the country, where there are no cinema houses, could also watch the movie. After its theatrical run, the film was placed on YouTube by the makers, and it is still watched today by the fans of the classic romantic dramas of the Nepali cinema.
