3 Lovers

3 Lovers is a 2012 Nepali romantic thriller film directed by Suresh Darpan Pokharel and written by Shivam Adhikari. The movie was produced under the banner of Three Brothers Creation and released in theaters on December 7, 2012. It features Priyanka Karki, Niraj Baral, Devu Shrestha, Pooja Sharma, Dhirendra Thapa and Suman Gaire in the leading roles, with Keshav Bhattarai and others in supporting parts.

The film tells the story of three young men who have different perceptions of love, and follows how their contrasting views of romance lead them in different directions. Presented as a true love story about three guys, the movie explores themes of love, friendship and the choices people make in relationships. The narrative combines romantic elements with thriller-style tension, keeping the audience engaged through its twists.

Director Suresh Darpan Pokharel was a well-known media personality who began his career as a radio jockey at Synergy FM in Chitwan and later worked as a video jockey at Nepal Television and Channel Nepal. He made his directorial debut with the 2009 film Nishana and had previously directed Kaslai Diun Yo Joban, Bhool Bhaye Maf Gar and Miss U before taking on 3 Lovers.

The film generated discussion before its release when the censor board issued it a PG certificate because of some kiss scenes and bed scenes that were deemed unsuitable for children to watch alone. Director Pokharel expressed surprise at the censor board's judgment, and the debate brought extra attention to the movie. The cinematography was handled by Purushottam Pradhan.

With a runtime of about 105 minutes, 3 Lovers showcased Priyanka Karki, who had been Miss Teen 2005 and had lived in the United States before returning to Nepal to act, alongside seasoned stage actor Niraj Baral. The film remains an example of the romance and thriller blend that was popular in Nepali cinema in the early 2010s.
