Hostel Returns is a 2015 Nepali teen romance and college comedy film directed by Suraj Bhusal and produced by Sunil Rawal under the banner of Durgish Films. It is the sequel to the successful 2013 film Hostel, and it is based on the hostel life of typical engineering students in Nepal. The story was written by Sunil Rawal, with the screenplay developed by Suraj Bhusal and Santosh Lamsal.

The film features a cast of young actors, including Sushil Shrestha as Pratap Raj Bhandari, Najir Hussain as Rameshwor Yadav, Abhaya Baral as Kumar Prasai, Sushil Sitaula as Sameer Bhatta, Swastima Khadka as Elina Khadka, Sashi Shrestha as Seema Joshi and Jenny Shrestha as Pratikshya Sharma, with producer Sunil Rawal himself playing the hostel warden and Deeya Maskey appearing as a teacher in a special appearance. Unlike the prequel, this film does not feature any of the previous cast and instead introduces an entirely new set of faces.

The story is set in an engineering college in Butwal, and it brings together students from different parts of Nepal, with one student from Dhangadi, another from Jhapa, another from Kathmandu and so on. The film is partly inspired by the Bollywood film 3 Idiots, and it captures the friendship, fun and frolic of hostel life, as well as the pressures of engineering education.

Director Suraj Bhusal put the young cast through five months of acting workshops to prepare them for their roles. Since most of the actors had never experienced hostel life, they were asked to spend a week in a hostel to observe how students behave. They were also called by their screen names throughout the shoot, and they learned the dialects of the places their characters came from to make their performances as authentic as possible.

The music of the film was composed by Swopnil Sharma, who also wrote the lyrics, with background scores by Shailesh Shrestha and Rohit Shakya. The cinematography was handled by Hari Humagain, and the editing by Dirgha Khadka.

Hostel Returns was released in Australia on August 19, 2015, with screenings in Sydney on August 15 and 16, before its nationwide release in Nepal on August 21, 2015. Made on a budget of 9 million rupees, the film earned over 20.5 million rupees at the box office, and it remains a beloved youth film of Nepali cinema.
