Badhshala, which means the slaughter house, is a 2013 Nepali historical drama that was released in the cinemas of Nepal on 19 April 2013. The film was written and directed by Manoj Pandit, and it was produced by Mohan Dotel under the banner of Smashing Apple. The movie concerns the torture done by the Nepali Army to the Maoist detainees during the Nepalese Civil War of 1996 to 2006, and it is based on the alleged torture at the Army Bhairavnath Battalion during 2003 to 2005. The film was inspired by the books Andhyara 256 Dinharu by Jitman Basnet and Manav Badhshala by Krishna KC, and the memories written by an unknown army personnel.

The plot of the film shows that the innocents and the Maoist detainees were forced to sign a paper saying that they were Maoists, and they were later killed by the army in a jungle. The army also asks them to reveal information about their leader, and if they refuse, they are taken to a jungle where they will see the detainees being brutally murdered, implying that they will be killed if they do not reveal the information. The story is a tale of the relationship between the continuously blind-folded and hand-cuffed detainee and the army personnel in the detention centre during the emergency period, and the characters who are in different situations and power create an interesting yet complex relationship when they interact, which ultimately shifts the power status between them.

The cast of the film included Saugat Malla as the Maoist leader, Dayahang Rai as Captain Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane as Krishna, Anup Baral as Major Saab, Arpan Thapa as Captain Thapa, Sarita Giri, Samuna KC and Puskar Gurung in the main roles. The cinematography of the movie was handled by Shailendra D. Karki, the editing was done by Nimesh Shrestha, the music was composed by Jason Kunwar, and the action sequences were choreographed by Asta Maharjan. The film went through a huge political controversy, as the Nepali Army objected to the screening of the film, which was briefly banned in Nepal. Director Manoj Pandit said that he would go to the Supreme Court of Nepal, and he gave a DVD of the film to the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to urge him to release the film. The film was finally cleared for screening after the filmmakers deleted the problematic torture scenes, and it was later selected for the 16th Siliguri International Film Festival in 2015.
