Ho Yahi Maya Ho

Ho Yahi Maya Ho, meaning "Is This the Same Love", is a Nepali romantic drama released in theatres on 24 May 2013. Directed by Deepak Shrestha, who also wrote the story, the film was presented by Subash Entertainment with Subash Giri as producer. It brought together two of the biggest names of Nepali cinema — superstar Rajesh Hamal and the evergreen heroine Karishma Manandhar — who had become one of the most loved on-screen couples of their generation.

The third lead of the love story was actress Jiya K.C., one of the most talked-about newcomers of the time. Although some of her other films reached theatres around the same period, this project was promoted as her most restrained and sober performance. Raj Timilsina also appeared in a prominent role, with Hiuwala Gautam, Himal K.C., Shyam Rai and Baljit Rai in guest appearances.

The technical credits were handled by senior names of the industry: cinematography by Kumar Bakhati, music by Suresh Adhikari, action direction by Himal K.C., choreography by Basanta Shrestha and Kabiraj Gahatraj, and editing by Rajani Nath Pant. The pairing of Hamal and Manandhar was itself the film's biggest marketing asset, reviving memories of the many hits the two had given Nepali cinema in earlier years.

Released the same day as the films Uma and Riyaa, Ho Yahi Maya Ho could not repeat the box office magic of Hamal's older successes, but it remains a point of interest for followers of the actor's long career and for fans of Jiya K.C., whose appearances always made news. In the years since, the film has been officially uploaded on YouTube, where the full feature can be watched without charge by fans of the old romantic era of Nepali cinema. The film also marks the meeting point between the superstar era, which had ruled the industry for two decades, and the new wave of actors who were arriving in the early years of the 2010s, a transition that is visible in the cast itself.
