Biteka Pal

Biteka Pal is a Nepali love story that was released in theatres on 10 January 2014. The film was directed by Suraj Subba Nalbo, who also wrote the screenplay and the dialogue, while the story was written by the producer Rajesh Ghatani. The picture is a family romance that was aimed squarely at the young audience of the mid-2010s, a period in which Nepali films were beginning to mix modern presentation with the old traditions of the local love drama.

The leading roles were played by Keki Adhikari and Babu Bogati, with Avinash Gurung also appearing in a significant part. Keki Adhikari was by then one of the most busy and best-liked actresses of the Nepali screen, and her name was itself a strong selling point for the film when it was announced. The casting brought together a small group of performers who were well known to the domestic cinema audiences of the day.

As a love story, the film followed the familiar pattern of the genre: a meeting between two people, the growth of their feelings, and the family and social obstacles that such relationships face. The music and the song sequences were used to carry the emotional part of the narrative, as has always been the custom of the Nepali industry, where the album of a film is often promoted as heavily as the film itself.

Biteka Pal was given a UA certificate by the censor board, meaning that it was suitable for most audiences with parental guidance for younger children. It belongs to the large group of Nepali romantic dramas that filled the theatres in the early part of the 2010s, before the arrival of the next generation of films.
