Buy NowRadhe is a 2017 Nepali romantic action social thriller written and directed by Jagadishwor Thapa. The film was produced by Sushil Pokharel and presented by Hari Om Cine Makers, with distribution handled by Budha Subba Digital. It stars Nikhil Upreti in the title role of Radhe, with Priyanka Karki as Priya, Salon Basnet as Radhe's close friend, and Ashishma Nakarmi, Pramod Agrahari and Shishir Bhandari in supporting roles.
Radhe was released in Nepali cinemas on April 1, 2017, with a running time of about two hours and twenty minutes. The film was made on a budget of around 78 lakh rupees, a modest figure by industry standards, yet it performed strongly at the box office. Its estimated earnings of about 3.4 crore rupees made it one of the successful films of the year, and reports suggested that it earned close to 3 crore rupees within the first two days of its release.
The story follows Radhe, a young man deeply in love with Priya. However, driven by a sense of duty and the desire to serve his country, Radhe leaves his village one day without informing anyone and joins the Nepalese army. The film follows his journey as a soldier while also exploring the emotional consequences of his decision on his relationship with Priya. The combination of romance, action and patriotic themes gave the film a broad appeal.
The technical crew of the film included cinematographer Krishna Shrestha, editor Gautam Raj Khadka and music director Arjun Pokharel, whose songs contributed to the popularity of the movie. The romantic songs featuring Nikhil Upreti and Priyanka Karki were especially well received by audiences.
The film blended several genres into one package: the love story provided emotional depth, the army sequences delivered action, and the social themes gave the movie a serious undertone. This combination was carefully designed to attract a wide range of viewers, from romance lovers to action fans.
Radhe stands as an example of a moderately budgeted Nepali film that achieved commercial success through strong star chemistry and a well-crafted story, and it remains a memorable entry in the careers of both Nikhil Upreti and Priyanka Karki.
