Mela

Mela is a 2017 Nepali drama film directed by Basanta Niraula and produced by Manoj K. Marodia under the presentation of Raj Radhika Entertainment. The story, screenplay and dialogues of the film were written by Hari Panta, who also worked as an assistant director on the project. The movie stars Salon Basnet, Amesh Bhandari and Ashishma Nakarmi in the leading roles, with Basanta Bhatta, Niraj Shrestha and Pabitra Acharya in supporting roles.

Mela was released in Nepali cinemas on November 10, 2017, with a UA certification. The film is essentially a love story, written around the romantic journeys of its central characters. Its release date was a highly competitive one, as four new Nepali movies hit the screens on the same day: Mela, Romeo, Tandro and Sakas. Despite the intense competition among these releases, each film had a strong cast worth watching.

The film's trailer was published in October 2017 and was received positively, with audiences praising it as a package of entertainment. Along with its theatrical release in Nepal, the movie was also released in India, expanding its reach to the Nepali-speaking audience across the border.

One of the notable songs of the film was "Parichaye Pau", a beautiful duet sung by Ram Chandra Kafle and Anju Panta. The song was written by Diggaj Dhurali and composed and arranged by Arjun Pokharel, one of the most sought-after music directors in Nepali cinema. The song was released in September 2017 as part of the promotional campaign for the movie.

The cast brought together several popular faces of Nepali cinema. Salon Basnet was known for his charming romantic roles, while Ashishma Nakarmi had established herself as a leading actress of her generation. Amesh Bhandari, who played an important role in the story, had also gained recognition through his performances in popular films.

Mela represents the romantic drama tradition of Nepali cinema, combining love stories with melodious songs and the scenic beauty of Nepal. It remains a part of the rich lineup of Nepali films released in the eventful year of 2017.
