Mausam

Mausam, which means "season" in Nepali, is a 2009 Nepali film that was released on 26 October 2009. The movie was directed by Shyam Bhattarai, who also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogue, and was a presentation of Sajan Films Pvt. Ltd., produced by Sanjay Kunwar. It is one of the most remembered films of the late-2000s Nepali commercial era, featuring one of the biggest stars in the history of Nepali cinema.

The film stars superstar Rajesh Hamal in the lead role, alongside Aaryan Sigdel, who played the character Manav and was enjoying the early phase of his career after his breakthrough in the blockbuster Kismat in 2007. The leading actresses were Ranjana Sharma, who was married to the director at the time, and Sharmila Malla, with Ganesh Upreti, Sunil Dutta Pandey and Baldip Rai completing the main cast. The pairing of Hamal with this ensemble gave the film strong star value when it arrived in theatres.

The technical team was led by cinematographer Dirgha Gurung and editor Banish Shah. The music was composed by Suresh Adhikari, with lyrics by Dayaram Pandey, and the songs were performed by popular playback singers of the day including Deepak Limbu, Anju Pant, Manoj Sewa and Som Niraula. The action sequences were supervised by Himal K.C. and the choreography was by Basanta Shrestha, giving the film the full package of songs, romance and fights that Nepali audiences expected.

At the box office, Mausam was described as an average hit — a respectable result at a time when Nepali films struggled to compete with Indian releases in their own market. The film also marked an important step in the career of Aaryan Sigdel, who went on to become one of the most successful actors of the following decade.
